What is DesktopMaster? DesktopMaster is a unique program to create and manage desktop themes. Also with one mouse click you can reset your windows desktop.

What are desktop themes? A desktop theme change the look of your windows desktop of your computer. A .theme file contains wallpapers, sounds, screensaver, icons, fonts and cursors. These files are often distributed as ZIP file.

I want to use only wallpapers, no desktop themes No problem :-) Select the funktion Theme - Reset Desktop from the DesktopMaster menu and then the funktion Theme - Edit. Within this window you define the wallpaper you want (JPG or BMP graphics only) and the kind of display (center, fit to screen or tiled).

Since when are desktop themes available? With the Plus™ add-on (not free) to Windows95™ and Windows98™ Microsoft™ introduced desktop themes. Unfortunately this program doesn't work proper with newer versions of Windows™ so we developed DesktopMaster™.

Are startup and shutdown screens supported by DesktopMaster? No, because these kind of graphics are not an official part of the desktop themes. We know, some theme autors distribute these graphics with their themes. At the moment these graphics must copied by hand to the windows directory. Maybe with the next update DesktopMaster will support this feature too.

Why are selfextracting themes not supported by DesktopMaster? A selfextracting file can contain viruses and spy-software. DesktopMaster only supports unpacked themes or themes packed as zip file. DesktopMaster checks the entries of the theme made to the windows registry and correct them if this is needed. Only proper entries will be done to the registry.

I installed a theme, but couldn't hear the sounds This problem could arise if your selected desktop theme uses MP3 sounds and your system doesn't support this format. An update of your Windows Media Player should solve this problem.

I am unable to install a theme Please check if the desktop theme you have chosen is a selfextracting .exe file. This kind of themes are not supported by DesktopMaster. You have to start this theme first by hand and after this DesktopMaster is able to manage these themes.

Are desktop themes freeware? Freeware means that such desktop themes are free for your private use. Desktop themes may not be re-distributed, once downloaded, in any form. Do not take these items and add them to email distribution lists. Do not add them to a website collection offering them for download. Do not copy them to disk for sale, for profit or for pleasure.
